ATMEL Evaluations-Board Version 2.0.1 / Schnittstelle?!

    Ich wollte mich mal n bischen mit µc's beschäftigen und da bin ich auf das oben genannte board gestoßen!


    Ich hab schon von problemen mit USB->RS232 Adaptern gelesen, gibts da einen mit dem es wirklich funktioniert? Oder wie siehts mit RS232 PCI Karten aus? Hab leider keinen mehr aufm board...:/

    also das Board habe ich mir vor kurzem auch zugelegt und finde es für den Preis ok.
    Die Adapter sollen ganz selten funktionieren und du brauchst schon eine Serielle Schnittstelle. Ich dachte, dass ich auf meinem Board auch keine mehr hätte, bin aber beim drüberschauen auf einen rechtwinkligen Steckplatz in türkis gestoßen, der mitten auf dem Board ist. Der heißt COM1 und steht für die Serielle. Viele Mainboardhersteller haben halt nur noch den Steckplatz aber nicht mehr die Serielle-Schnittstelle-Buchse in der Lieferung inbegriffen. Die kannst du Dir aus alten Rechnern ausbauen (Serielle Schnittstelle auf Flachbandkabel auf passenden Stecker) , selbermachen, oder auch bei Ebay kaufen.

    fängste grad erst mit µc's an? Hab gehört BASCOM soll ganz gut sein! was benutzt du?


    Wollte mir auch gleich das erweiterungsboard Bausatz Atmel-Addon-Board V1.0 mit dem LCD usw. mitbestellen!



    Bei mir auf der Arbeit arbeiten wir leider nur zum größten teil mit PIC's, hab aber gehört das die Atmels besser sein sollen... Wir fangen auch erst in ein paar wochen mit den µc's an, aber ich hab da jetzt son jidder drauf :)

    Serielles Bitbanging geht über die meisten USB/RS232-Adapter leider nicht oder nur sehr langsam (so richtig langsam!). Besser ist es, sich gleich einen USB-ISP-Programmieradapter dazu zu kaufen, wenn man keine serielle Schnittstelle mehr im PC hat. Den gibts ab rund 20 EUR in der großen Bucht und der wird dann über den 10pol. ISP-Wannenstecker angeschlossen.


    USB/RS232-Adapter mit FTDI-Chipsatz funktionieren mit hoher Wahrscheinlichkeit, aber ich würd da nicht für haften (wollen). Sind auch schwer zu bekommen und meist deutlich teurer als der Standardkram mit Prolific-Chip oder wie sich das schimpft.

    also ich habe vor ca. 3 monaten oder so angefangen und auch schon so einiges getestet. LCDs habe ich auch schon durch, da würde ich an deiner Stelle aber kein Addon-Board für kaufen. Bestelle Dir einfach ein LCD bei Pollin mit, was HD47780-Controller besitzt (ich habe mir u.a. das hier zum Testen mit bestellt) Schau mal hier, dieses Tutorial hilft ungemein (auch bei der LCD-Problematik).
    Programmieren tue ich in Bascom und habe auch schon was in C probiert, finde Bascom aber deutlich ansprechender, reicht für weniger komplexe Sachen voll hin!
    Aber da sprechen mal lieber noch die Profis ein paar Worte, weil mir wahrscheinlich einfach die Übersicht über alle Sprachen fehlt.

    I have a computer one year old and I havent got a COM1. So I'm using adaper USB-COM, like this...

    Not Realy,
    just connect the RS232 USB Interface with the lower Serialinterface on your Picture and Connect the USB with your PC. Now get the SystemHardware : try to find your Serial and Parralelport Configs and find out which Serialport it (the USB -> RS232 Interface ) is on your PC, now you are Able to Programm and use programms like Bascom and else with THIS Serialport number.

    I have this connector on my motherboard, but I don't have the connector, witch goes into this connector on motherboard.



    I have connected my Usb-RS232 Converter into USB (It shows me a connection COM1 on the Device manager).


    Now I tur on the main power supply on these boards on picturec above...The RED light goes ON...So far so good.




    I make a program in Bascom, and it works under a simulation. But when I try to program it into a chip....Here is a problem..


    I have chosen a COM1 for Serial port in Settings in Bascom. But I don't know witch PROGRAMER to chose? Because if I chose a programer in Bascom called MSC USB Programmer or USB-ISP Programmer can't load the program into a chip...

    OK, so Now step by step. What am I doing wrong?



    I connect USB-RS232 Into a USB connector. I connect the DB9 connector of this interface into a DB9 ISP connector on the Atmel Evaluations-Bord. I turn on the power and RED light goes on (this is OK!!!).



    Now I make a program in Bascom.



    Now if I chose a Programmer like this on picture below...

    ...It happens next....I click on the Button Program the chip in Bascom software...(pic below)...

    ..I click OK...

    And if I click again on the OK... And then choose the right chip...(I'm using the ATMEGA8515)

    And now...If I click on the button to program the chip, it happens...NOTHING!!! Even the LED on the USB-RS232 Interface does NOT blink!




    I tried with the software PonyProg, and there is not a succes eather....



    Can you tell me, what am I doing wrong?

    You have to use the COM4 Port, this is the USB-Serial adapter.
    The COM1 Port is the one integratet in your Mainboard.


    Maybe the USB-Serial Adapter works with the right Driver installed, but there is only a smal chance because
    the Handshake Signals are used to Programm the Chip and not all USB-Serial Adapter support this.(maybe with the Reference Drivers),


    Try to Programm the Chip with the Pollin Software when you not sure whitch Programmer to chose in Bascom
    Just Compile the Software in Bascom an then choose the *.hex File in the Directory where you saved the Sourcecode with te Pollin Software.


    but best solution is to bye or build a USB IPS-Programmer (about 20€ on Ebay)
    or use the Com1 on your Mainboard with SUB-D 9 - "10pol Pfostensteckerkabel"


    USB-Serial changer ar allways crap :(
    I dont understand why Serial Ports on PCs are dying...

    Edit: you also have to choose a serial Programmer in Bascom, because a serial Port is a serial Port even over USB
    but i cant tell you withch of them.

    I'm instaling Windows on older computer, witch has a COM1 and COM2 integrated on motherboard.


    I'll tell you later, if it works.



    I was testing yesterday the programing through the software PonyProg and it wasn't working!
